We have been welcoming volunteers to Afrinoon Permaculture since 2018, creating a vibrant space for learning, cultural exchange, and hands-on experience in sustainable living. Volunteering with us is a mutual exchange of ideas, culture, and inspiration. Everyone brings something unique, and everyone leaves with new skills and insights.

To volunteer at Afrinoon Permaculture, please apply exclusively through our Workaway listing. We do not accept direct applications by email or phone. Workaway handles introductions, reviews, and scheduling, which helps us give every volunteer the welcome they deserve.
The work
Volunteering is not just about helping on the land. It is immersion in a working permaculture system, where every task connects to the bigger picture of how the site is designed and how it functions.
- Vegetable growing and garden maintenance
- Food forest planting and care
- Animal care: chickens, ducks, sheep, pigs, goats, and bees
- Composting and soil building
- Building and infrastructure projects
- Harvesting, preserving, and food preparation
- General smallholding tasks
What you’ll get

What we look for
- A willing, positive attitude to outdoor work
- A minimum stay of one week (longer stays preferred)
- Good communication and willingness to follow the daily rhythm
- Openness to learning and to contributing as part of a team
